The Secret Service

So tomorrow is Jenna Bush’s wedding.  We really don’t know much more than that.  Details are pretty sketchy on this one.  (And I think they’re about to get sketchier.)
As a reporter, I wish at least one journalist were “on the inside.”  But I understand why Jenna wants such a private affair.
If we’re lucky, sounds like we [...]

On Top of the World

I’m having one of those “stop the world I want to get off” days.  So I’m punting — to the top of the world.
The Olympic flame has reached the summit of Mount Everest.  Add this to the list of my favorite flame moments:
Barcelona in ‘92:  Delivered to the cauldron by flaming arrow.
Lillehammer in ‘94:  Flying off [...]

Tuesday Night Two-fer

Two contests ended last night.  But I’m a little more certain of one than the other.

The Hardest Job I’ve Ever Had

Working in a newsroom is hard, no matter what your role.  The push to get the story first, get everything right, and be completely fair — all under constant deadline pressure — is enough to make anyone reach for a cold one at the end of the day.
But this isn’t the hardest job I’ve ever [...]

The Shirt On My Back

Yes, I’m wearing a blue shirt today.  Not white.  Blue.  Why?  All of my white shirts are dirty.
People sometimes ask anchors: “Who picks out you’re clothes?”  Answer:  “You’re looking at him.”
If you haven’t noticed, I have a pretty narrow fashion comfort zone.  White shirt.  Dark suit.  Striped tie.  Period.  It’s not an ensemble.  It’s a [...]

Birthday Boy

I know it seems weird to blog about your own birthday. But this has nothing to do wanting special attention. Honestly.
It definitely has nothing to do with wanting cake and song in the office conference room. Hint, hint. Or let me be clear. Don’t you dare!
This is about [...]
