Our hometown hope for another golden Olympic gymnastics performance has done it again.
Over the weekend Nastia Liukin won the all-around title at the Pacific Rim Championships in San Jose, California. She also won gold on beam and silver on bars.
With less than six months to go until Beijing, Nastia is clearly back on track after a shaky season last year due to an ankle injury.
But that’s not the only remarkable story emerging. Coming up behind Nastia is Rebecca Bross of Plano, who also trains at the WOGA gym (which produced Athens darling Carly Patterson).
Rebecca is nothing short of a phenom, capturing the junior all-around title in San Jose, as well as gold on vault, beam and floor.
And get this… She’s too young for Beijing. We’ll have to wait for the London Games in 2012 to see Rebecca Bross on the Olympic stage.
A dynasty in the making? It’s looking better every day.
By the way, NBC will broadcast the Pacific Rim Championships on Sunday, April 13th at 3:30. But you know how it ends. Sorry… The news was too good to keep to myself.
